Dressing Up - Merry & Bright!

Dressing Up - Merry & Bright!

Hi Queen & Co. Friends!

Ivana here with two technique cards using the beautiful Merry & Bright Ornament Kit.

I thought it would be fun to switch up the ingredients in this kit and give the pretty shakers a new look and some added texture.  Even if you don't have the exact same ingredients, this technique can be achieved with any mix of glitters, sand, powders, beads and enamels you might have on hand.

All you need is your adhesive of choice (our Sheer Glue would be perfect!) and any kind of sprinkling medium.  The Toppings included in the kit would be perfect!

To decorate this delicate shaker frame, I used the Pearlie Toppings from the kit and sprinkled over glitter.  Pretty amazing, right?  For the inside of the shaker, I combined Candy Toppings, glitter and Jewel Toppings.

I love that many of the pretty ornaments in the kit are so fun to decorate.  I found the best way to add decorative touches was to stick a strong adhesive to some cardstock before running it through the die-cut machine with the shaker shapes.  A sheet of adhesive works best for the intricate details.   But you can ALWAYS use liquid adhesive, glue sticks or even a glue gun.

I just love the extra texture and sparkle this technique provides.  Of course, no sweet card is complete without a sentiment, and the variety of pretty fonts and sayings included in this kit are just the perfect addition.

For my next card, I used the same adhesive sheet technique to cover my card base and sprinkled on a generous amount of chunky, silver glitter. You could just as easily cheat and use a glittered paper here or our Bitty Bead Toppings.

For my card front, you could use the Chevron Die or the Lines Die.  Those would look so beautiful and you would achieve the same effect.  Before adding the ornaments to the front of the card, I adhered some trim and left the ends open so I could thread in the ornaments later.

To decorate the ornaments, I once again covered a piece of cardstock with an adhesive sheet, and then ran it through my die-cutting machine. I was then able to use a variety of embossing powders, enamels and glitters to add some pizzazz to these sweet trinkets.  Patterned paper, or paint would look fabulous too!

I love how textured both cards are and how the sparkles glimmer and dance about as each card moves. I'm loving this kit more and more as I discover new ways to deck the little ornaments.

I hope you will too!

Thanks for joining me + happy crafting!

Ivana
