Hip Hip Hooray for a FREE Cut File! 1

Hello Queen & Co friends, Kim here.

Welcome to the Queen & Company blog. Today I am excited to share my latest layout with you. Inspired by the FABULOUS Pretty Presents kit, I decided to capture the happy moment of my little friend Callan getting ready to blow the candles out on her birthday cake. These dies, papers & toppers were tailor made for this page.

Hip-hip Hooray layout by Kim Watson

Using my Silhouette Cameo, I die-cut a pie chart, reason being is I wanted to use a pretty variety of patterned papers from the Pretty Presents 6x6 paper pad. The pie chart allowed me to use eight different pattern papers...the perfect way to create a colorful mat for my photo.

The sweet gift dies made the perfect accents for this page. To make them less busy on an already busy page, I made sure to make them mono tone in color: Pink, yellow, orange & green. To create the 'open me tag' I trimmed down one of the larger stamps.

The title is made up of a combination of three of the stamps that came in the Pretty Presents kit. By stamping them in different colors onto flag shapes, then attaching them to a striped drinking straw, I not only made a fun unique title but also a festive page accent.

Patterned paper circles folded in half and placed along the top of the page with turquoise bakers twine, not onto adds a ceiling to the page but really gives one the feeling of a celebration!

To make the page extra special I selected a mixture of pretty bling bits to co-ordinate with the patterned papers in each segment. The result is super fun, colorful & festive....Callan can't wait to have her page, in a frame, in her bedroom.

If you like cut files, I have a gift for you today.

It's All About the Weather!

It's All About the Weather! 0

Hello! Amy Sheffer here today with a pair of encouragement cards.

You Shine Brighter

For my first card, I chose this uplifting sentiment stamp from Papertrey Ink. To go along with the sentiment, I watercolored an intense night sky made up of shades of blue, turquoise, and purple. I started out with Zig watercolor brush markers, then added intensity with ink refills.

You Shine Brighter

Next I added various embellishments as the stars in the sky: White Pinwheels, star sequins from the Sequin Topping Set, and Petite Posies.

You Shine Brighter

A touch of black and white striped twine helps bring out the darker ink colors and the black star sequins.

My next card is just about the complete opposite in style. This time I focused on simplicity and lots of white space. I die-cut a gray cloud out of a pattern from the Flirty Florals Paper Pad and stamped it with an encouraging sentiment from Papertrey Ink.

I stitched lines from the cloud down to a rainbow of Twinkle Drops for rain. Everything is mounted with foam adhesive to a white scalloped card base. Super sweet and simple.

Supplies: Flirty Florals Paper Pad, Red Twinkle Drops, Orange Twinkle Drops, Yellow Twinkle Drops, Green Twinkle Drops, Blue Twinkle Drops, Purple Twinkle Drops, and Clear Twinkle Drops

Shaking It Up Card Tutorials! 0

Hello crafty friends, Kim here.

Welcome to the Queen & Company blog. Today I am excited to share x2 card ideas with you. They are both colorful and fun to create with a clever little technique on each, you might not have thought of trying before. Let me show you what I created.

Best Wishes Sweetie Card by Kim Watson

Inspired by the stamp sentiment & the foam candles base, I created this card filled with candy swirls. Together with swirly lolly bits, bakers twine swirly candy bits & iridescent pearls, the result is colorful & good enough to eat! I love 3D cards with lots to touch & feel, & this idea does just that!

Hello, Miss You Card by Kim Watson

Cards personalised with photographs are so trendy right now & really well received, especially by family members. This card was one I have been wanting to try ever since I received my talk bubble die set. Max misses his uncle and aunt who live in the U.K so much, and what better way to tell them he misses them, than with a card with his cute face on the front?

The photo was trimmed to fit inside the die-cut area and stuck onto the card base, before I attached the foam front. By coordinating the fillers to match the photograph, they don't obscure the image but rather add sparkle & interest to the photograph. Alpha stickers, washi tape, iridescent pearls, a lolly & button...make this card fun to make & a pleasure to receive!

Fun in the Sun Cards!

Fun in the Sun Cards! 0

Hey everyone!
It's Greta with you today. We are well into summer here so I thought I would put together one of my favorite summer color combos for my cards. For my first card, I featured one of summers favorite sweet treats, ice cream cones.
I used the ice cream cone die cut to make a triple dip, set on a white background. To dress it up, I added epoxy dots and twine.

For this second card, I used the same color combo to create a serene beach scene.

By layering kraft cardstock for sand, and two different colors of blue for water and sky, the background is complete.

I used the umbrella shaker and die cut in orange and yellow, to make my beach umbrella, embellished with a Pom flower. A sun die cut with bling and a stamped sentiment finishes off this fun beach card!

Supplies Used:  Shaped Shaker Spring, Sprinkles Toppings, Orange Pom Pom Flower, Yellow Posies

Happy summer and Thanks for stopping by!

RED, WHITE & YOU - Giveaway!!!

RED, WHITE & YOU - Giveaway!!! 418

Happy 4th of July!

Today we are having our own explosion of fireworks here on the blog.  Loads of inspiration and a chance to win one of our awesome Trunks filled with all kinds of goodies. To be eligible for the grand prize (see below), leave a comment on this post.  For an addition entry, PIN the above collage image to Pinterest.  Drawing will be held July 5th.

One more thing!!!  Every order between now and the 4th will receive a random assortment from the fun Red, White and Blue grouping below.

So, lets start with some incredible inspiration, shall we?
Amy Sheffer has created a couple cards for us to celebrate this big day!

Stars & Stripes Forever

That American flag shaker element is actually the cake from the Birthday Shaped Shaker set!

She trimmed down a white cake die-cut to a rectangle, filled the foam shaker with Red Diamond Toppings, and then added a small square covered in Blue Star Washi Tape. Then added a lollipop stick for the flag pole and topped it with some blue striped twine.

Tip: The star sequins are more turquoise in color. To change them to a deep, royal blue, I colored over them with a dark blue Copic marker.
Home of the Free Because of the Brave

Amy created a fireworks display using a combination of stamped starburst images and red, white, and blue Pinwheels and Petite Posies.

Susan Weinroth also played along with our Red White and blue theme with a stunning layout. She used her favorite photo from last year's celebration.  Her beach club puts up tons and tons of flags every 4th, and it's one of her very favorite annual photos of her boys -- She loves to take a shot of them in front of what they call "the giant flag"!!!

Instead of creating a shaker box with the Pop Up Stars, She simply layered them and added bubbles and rhinestone stars and stripes of Glitter Washi.

Supplies: Cardstock, Pop Up Dies - 4 Stars, Lines Glitter Tape Blue, Lines Glitter Tape Silver, Bubbles Clear

Megan Hoeppner has some fabulous fun cards to share as well!
In the US, July  means fireworks and bonfires and parades and BINGO at the town armory. It also means it's her sister-in-law’s birthday. She’s a yankee doodle dandy, born on the Fourth of July. A fireworks card seems in order.

She used various Queen toppings and liquid dimensional adhesive to create fireworks.

It wouldn’t be a Fourth-themed post without a little red, white, and blue.
She took the same taped approach here.  Whether you’re thanking a soldier, their family for their service or a party hostess this fourth, these cards are a quick solution to try. Hooray for washi. It’s the supply that stretches and makes crafting easy. Have fun!

Supplies Used: Glitter Washi Tape, Diamond Toppings, Sprinkle Toppings, Bitty Bead Toppings, Orange Epoxy Dots, Green Epoxy Dots, Pink Epoxy Dots

Don't forget to comment below for a chance at the Trunk grand prize, and PIN the collage photo (at the very top of the post) for an additional entry.

May your weekend be filled with family, friends, and crafty time!

Red, White and Blue!

Red, White and Blue! 1

Are you getting ready for your weekend plans?  Fireworks? BBQ?  Or just a relaxing weekend in your craft space creating fun cards!  How about we share a little inspiration with you today.  This one looks so elegant, yet can be completed rather quickly.

You too could create a card similar to this one by Ginger.  You could start with our Stars Shaker Card Kit.  Line the first layout with various washi tapes and then apply the star cut paper on top.

Wrap twine around the top attaching your sentiment then a few of our fun Iridescent Bubbles.

Wanna try this one??  Again, layer washi tape across the base of your card.  Apply a larger object in the center of your card.  Ginger used our Pop Up Stars.  She filled the star with clear and white toppings and added a few pieces of bling!

We hope you have a fabulous weekend with family, friends and full of fireworks.  (Maybe a little time to craft.)
